We often stress directly applying EM•1® Microbial Inoculant to the soil or to make high quality composts with EM•1® Microbial Inoculant and amend the soil. When it comes to trees and shrubs the applications are mostly foliar (sprayed on the leaves) feeding. Plants absorb nutrients several times more effectively through their leaves than through their roots. Additionally, sustainable landscaping practices encourage the use of organic composts and bokashi that can be dug into the soil along the drip line of the trees or shrubs, even during the growing season. Then spray the soil and the compost along the drip line with EM•1®.

By combining foliar and soil applications and amending the soil with lost of organic matter around the trees and shrubs, insect infestation can be deterred by encouraging healthy plants and soil. Follow some of our suggestions for soils and the leaves and see what a difference it can make to your trees and shrubs.
