Improving Life using Effective Microorganisms®
Composting with Ag1000® can speed up the time to maturation and increase the C:N ratio. Saving you time and increase nutrient content in your compost. Lactic acid bacteria, yeast and phototrophic bacteria ferment organic substances and prevent putrefaction. In addition, the bacteria prevents the production of ammonia. This results in less turning needed and no foul odors.
Compost treated with Ag1000® produces rich amino acids and polysaccharides. These compounds are directly absorbed by plants. Under normal composting circumstances, cellulose is decomposed and broken down to form carbon dioxide. However, with the microorganisms in Ag1000®, polysaccharides are produced and absorbed by the microorganisms.
Traditional composting requires temperatures to reach 140 to 160 degrees F with lots of aeration required. On average the piles are turned 17 to 18 times over the course of 35-40 days and then piles sit for an additional 90 to 120 days. Using Ag1000® in the process matures the compost without the additional 90 to 120 days and plants can be planted the same day it is spread.
Compost, by definition is the aerobic breakdown of organic matter. During this process, turning, generally while adding water, adds water and air to the material. Adding Ag1000® to the pile helps increase the air flow into the pile and increasing the aerobic microbial populations. This means more air with less turning.
Adding Ag1000® is easy, simply add to your water used to add moisture to your pile. Add water to reach desired moisture content and follow standard composting procedures with turning and temperature monitoring.
Add 2 gallons of Ag1000® per 1 ton of waste.
