ORGANIC & REGENERATIVE FARMING SOLUTIONS

NUT TREES

NUT TREES

Effective Microorganisms have been used on nut trees worldwide for decades.  Ag1000® can be used on all nut trees in all climates. Ag1000® is a ready-to-use soil conditioner, comprised of Effective Microorganisms. Ag1000® increases nutrient cycling in your soil and helps improve drainage, aeration, moisture retention and soil structure. Overall this decreases fertilizer requirements while improving yield.

Because Ag1000® contains live microbials it also improves water permeability. The bugs go to work in the soil, increasing beneficial microorganisms and other organisms, this creates more pores for water and air. The increased permeability can decrease your water usage.

RESEARCH AND RESULTS

PECANS

PECANS

Coyote Canyon Farms Pecans

Coyote Canyon Farms is located in Southern Arizona and suffers from high salts and low precipitation. Fields were irrigated with micro-sprinklers and treated on a grower standard for nutrients and other inputs.

Zinc is critical in pecan production. Deficiency in zinc has negative impacts on photosynthesis, flower set, nut size and erratic shuck opening. Summer tests showed treated trees were 38% higher then the control.

A Haney Soil Test also showed nutrient content increased in the soil. Nitrogen was 28% higher, with Nitrate specifically being 17% higher in the treated.

For More Studies and Trials using Ag1000 or Effective Microorganisms Please Contact Us

For most nut trees, we recommend 25 gallons of Ag1000® per acre per year applied via irrigation (flood, drip or sprinklers). Foliar applications can be added if practical for the individual farm.

25 Gallons per acre in the soil, divided by number of irrigations

Conventional farmers can use Ag1000® with most of their programs. Do not mix synthetic chemicals with the microbes in concentrated, non-diluted, form. Many pesticides, such as Round-Up are antibiotic in nature and kill all the microbes within seconds of mixing. Therefore, if pesticides are to be used, please wait at least 48 hours between applications of pesticide and Ag1000®.
