How To Treat Tomato Blight
For best results, follow these simple tips throughout the planting and growing season to avoid soil borne funguses from ruining your tomatoes:
- Soak tomato seeds or seedlings in a solution of EM-1 before planting and water the plantation hole with EM-1®. This will increase the populations of yeast, photosynthetic bacteria and lactic acid bacteria (LAB). L.A.B is a natural antibiotic that fights off fungal diseases, like blight.
- Water the base of the tomato plants weekly with EM-1 microbial inoculant solution to build up soil health and kill off any bacteria that might be growing. Add 6 oz of EM-1 to 1 gallon of water.
- Use EM-1 as a foliar spray to protect the leaves against disease. During wet periods, spray your tomatoes 1 - 3 times per week and spray in the evenings not during the heat of the day.
- Remove the suckers from the bottom of the stem, these are the older leaves that increase the risk of disease.
- Use stakes to keep the tomato plants off the ground.
- With regular use of EM-1 there is no need to rotate your tomato plants into different areas of the garden. The healthy microbes, minerals and nutrients all work together to keep the soil in optimal condition.
