EM•1® Case Study: Cattle

Effective Microorganisms (EM®) have been successfully increasing cattle and dairy cow health worldwide for decades. The beneficial microorganisms can be used in the drinking water, feed and even sprayed on manure to create nutrient-rich compost to sell or use on agricultural crops. Spraying EM® inside the barns will improve the microbial environment of the whole barn, including the intestinal bacteria flora of the livestock, and maintain the health of the entire operation. Research has also shown that EM® can decrease and even eliminate mastitis in dairy cows. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the usage of antibiotics and disinfectant to prevent diseases.

TeraGanix offers probiotic products that use the Original EM•1® Microbial Inoculant to create a cost effective liquid ready for use without activation. For cattle products include Ca300, Fb300, Apc500 and Ag1000.

TO INCREASE GUT HEALTH

Ca300™ Direct Fed Microbial

Ca300™ is a liquid probiotic solution for direct fed use in cattle drinking water and feed. Ca300 can increase the gut health of cattle and decrease stress and disease. This leads to a decreased need for antibiotics and other chemical usage.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR DRINKING WATER AND FEED:

Add to drinking water or feed of cattle continuously at 1 gallon per 1000 as fed.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR BOTTLE FEEDING:

Add .25 tsp (3 mL) per gallon of milk or formula at time of feeding. (Do not premix and store).

TO DECREASE CHEMICAL USE

Fb300™ Footbath Treatment for Cattle

Fb300™ is our liquid probiotic solution for cattle foot baths. Apply Fb300™ in place of other toxic chemicals in the foot bath water.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:

Add 1% to 5% Fb300 to volume of footbath (1/2 gallon to 2.5 gallons of Fb300 to 50 gallons of water). Immersion time can range from 5 to 20 minutes twice daily or as prescribed by a veterinarian.

  • Solution is intended to treat 200 cows and should be discarded and replaced with fresh solution after.
  • Keep foot bath clean during treatment period and do not allow cattle to drink from foot baths.
  • If gallon capacity of foot bath is unknown, use the following formula to calculate: Inside Length (in.) X Inside Width (in.) X Fluid Height (in.) / 231=gallon capacity of foot bath

TO KEEP YOUR OPERATION CLEAN

TO TREAT COMPOST OR GROW FEED

Ag1000 ® Agricultural Concentrate

Ag1000® is a liquid probiotic solution for growing crops and for composting manures. Using Ag1000 in the process allows for avoiding the lengthy maturing process which can add an addition 90-120 days before land application. Growers love this because they plant the same day they spread the compost without worrying about burning the plants.

Ag1000 can also be used as a soil and foliar inoculant to add beneficial microorganisms to your crops. If you grow your own feed for cattle, Ag1000 can increase your yields and increase the health of your soil.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPOSTING:

  • Inoculate fresh manure with 2 gallons Ag1000® Organic per ton of manure.
  • Follow standard composting methods of turning and heat, turning roughly 18-20 times with a turner (not a bucket loader) over the course of 40-45 days.
  • Compost will be biologically mature and stable, ready for planting at 45 days, no curing is needed.
  • Spread compost on fields at rate of 5 tons per acre yearly to replace most, or all, of fertilizer needs. You may also sell as compost.

INSTRUCTION FOR SOIL OR FOLIAR APPLICATION:

SOILS:
Apply to soils using irrigation, pre-plant incorporated, or pre-emerge, at 10 to 45 gallons per acre throughout the season.

FOLIAR:

Apply at 1 to 3 gallons per acre weekly or biweekly through growing season.

POST HARVEST:

Apply to crop residues at 5 to 10gallons per acre
