EM•1® Case Study: Shrimp & Fish Farms

Effective Microorganisms (EM®) have been successfully improving aqueous environments worldwide for decades. The beneficial microorganisms can be used in the drinking water, feed and even sprayed on manure to create nutrient-rich compost to sell or use on agricultural crops. Spraying EM® inside the barns will improve the microbial environment of the whole barn, including the intestinal bacteria flora of the livestock, and maintain the health of the entire operation.

TeraGanix offers probiotic products that use the Original EM•1® Microbial Inoculant to create a cost effective liquid ready for use without activation. For all aquatic environments, Aqua1000 is recommended.

TO INCREASE WATER QUALITY AND ANIMAL HEALTH

Aqua1000™ Microbial Probiotic for Shrimp and Fish

Aqua1000™ is a liquid probiotic solution for use in aqueous environments such as fish and shrimp farms and aquaponic systems. Aqua1000™will improve overall nutrient availability, assist in balancing pH, and assist in stabilizing Dissolved Oxygen, all requirements for high water quality.

INSTRUCTIONS TO EXTEND AQUA1000:

Aqua1000 must be extended before use in ponds and raceways.

Extend by mixing in an airtight, sealed clean tank;

1 part Aqua1000 : 1 part molasses: 20 parts water

Allow to ferment until pH is less then 3.6 then allow to mature another 24-48hrs. Use as quickly as possible, within 10 days, per application guidelines below:

SHRIMP LARVAE (mL/Metric Ton):
basic protocol for standard dosage. Applications may vary.

  • Zoea 2: 1 mL Post larvae 4: 130-140 mL
  • Mysis: 30-50 mL Post larvae 5: 130-140 mL
  • Post larvae 1: 60-70 mL Post larvae 6: 150-160 mL
  • Post larvae 2: 80-90 mL Post larvae 7+: 170-500+ mL
  • Post larvae 3: 100-110 mL
  • *Do not apply if dissolved oxygen levels are low. If water turns transparent, decrease dose.

RACEWAYS:

Use in water reservoirs at 1:5000 (In 5000L or water use 1L of Aqua1000™). Follow with a daily dose of 250 mL per m3.

FEED:

(Do NOT use extended Aqua1000™ for feed) Dilute Aqua1000™ in water and spray on feedstock prior to feeding at a rate of 3 fluid oz (89mL) per 100lbs.

For more intensive production the rate may be adjusted up as needed but should not exceed 1 gallon (3.8L) per ton.

TO DECREASE CHEMICAL USE

Wt1000™ Wastewater Treatment

Wt1000™ is an all natural bacterial inoculant that helps process waste, control odor and increase water quality. The beneficial microorganisms in Wt1000, such as organic acids, enzymes and antioxidants, shift conditions from putrefaction to non-putrefactive.

In ponds and lagoons, the beneficial microbes in Wt1000 can prevent slime and algae growth and maintain pristine water.

Wt1000 can be used in a variety of other systems such as portable toilets, septic systems, waste lagoons, composting, water features and for livestock odors.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:

  • PORTABLE TOILETS (RV, BOATS, BUS):
  • Weekly 1:128 (1oz per gallon of water)
  • SEPTIC SYSTEMS:
  • 2 to 3 times per week at 1:64 (2oz per gallon of water)
  • WASTE LAGOONS:
  • Monthly 1:10,000
  • COMPOSTING:
  • Each preparation 1.5 gallons of Wt1000 per cubic yard
  • PONDS AND WATER FEATURES:
  • Monthly 1:10,000
  • LIVESTOCK ODORS:
  • 2 to 3 times per week at 1:64 (2oz per gallon)
