Research and field trials have demonstrated the benefits of EM•1® in helping improve soil health. Compared with conventional methods of reclamation, EM•1® can begin to reclaim saline-sodic soil in the first year.
By applying beneficial microorganisms and high-quality organic matter, the microbes begin to synergize with other indigenous species of bacteria, fungi, actinomycetes and soil fauna and flora. During the decomposition of organic matter these microbes synthesize and release substances such as organic acids (amino acids, nucleic acid, citric acids, lactic acides), alcohols, ethers, aldehydes, bioactive substances (vitamins, enzymes, hormones), and sugars.
In addition, microorganisms excrete organic acids, a type of chelate, which form ionic charges within salts and other contaminant. This inhibits interacts with other elements or ions in the same manner. To begin interacting again, carbon is required in the form of humate. With the addition of EM•1®, the microbes will naturally penetrate the soil and accelerate the chelation of salts.
